Numerical Simulation of Dynamic Wind Load of the Foot-bridge

چکیده

Pedestrian bridge structures are usually sensitive to the effects of wind due to their relatively high slimness and low weight. The arising forces can excite both oscillation in the direction of the wind and also crosswise torsion-flexure oscillation which can result in a local or (in the case of coupled torsion-flexure oscillation) complete loss of aerodynamic stability of the structure. This study examines, among others, the influence of the parapet on the resultant force affecting the profile of the bridge deck. It is possible to consider partially permeable panels made from perforated metal sheets with the use of a so-called porous medium. However, the evaluation of the force which affects this part of the structure is relatively difficult. For this reason, two ultimate variants were examined: a bridge deck with a perfectly permeable parapet and another with a non-permeable parapet. Transverse oscillations of the cross-section known as a galloping are referenced and a quasi-static approach of its solution is adopted. Basic assumptions for arise of these vibration produced instabilities are named. Key-Words: Dynamics, Foot-bridge, Cycle loading, Vortex shedding, Steel structure

Load Test and Model Calibration of a Horizontally Curved Steel Box-Girder Bridge

In this paper, full scale load test of a horizontally curved steel box-girder bridge is carried out in order to detect structural defects, which reportedly result in unwanted vibrations in nearby buildings. The bridge is tested under the passage of six heavy vehicles at different speeds, so as to determine its static and dynamic responses. A total number of one hundred and two (102) sensors are...

Modeling and Neuro-fuzzy Controller Design of a Wind Turbine in Full-load Region Based on Operational Data

In this paper, dynamic modeling of a Vestas 660 kW wind turbine and its validation are performed based on operational data extracted from Eoun-Ebn-Ali wind farm in Tabriz, Iran. The operational data show that the turbine under study, with a classical PI controller, encounters high fluctuations when controlling the output power at its rated value. The turbine modeling is performed by deriving th...

Recent Research and Applications of Numerical Simulation for Dynamic Response of Long-Span Bridges Subjected to Multiple Loads

Many long-span bridges have been built throughout the world in recent years but they are often subject to multiple types of dynamic loads, especially those located in wind-prone regions and carrying both trains and road vehicles. To ensure the safety and functionality of these bridges, dynamic responses of long-span bridges are often required for bridge assessment. Given that there are several ...

Experimental and numerical study of natural ventilation in four-sided wind tower traps

In the past, wind towers were applied as the main architectural part of building construction in the desert areas of Iran. These almost high structures were used as cooling load suppliers at residential buildings. In the present study, the effect of symmetric four-sided wind tower in flow induction to the bottom space has been analysed by using a wind tunnel and numerical simulations. In the nu...

A Fast Calculation Method for Analyzing the Effect of Wind Generation on ATC

Wind energy penetration in power system has been increased very fast and large amount of capitals invested for wind farms all around the world. Meanwhile, in power systems with wind turbine generators (WTGs), the value of Available transfer capability (ATC) is influenced by the probabilistic nature of the wind power. The Mont Carlo Simulation (MCS) is the most common method to model the uncerta...
